Here’s how the Penny War works:
Each class will collect coins in their class jar during the week.
Pennies count as positive points for the class that collects them.
Other coins (nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.) count as negative points when placed in another class’s jar.
For example, if a class has 50 pennies and another student drops a quarter into their jar, 25 points are subtracted from that class’s total.
Students can build up their own class total with pennies while strategically “sabotaging” other classes with silver coins. At the end of the week, the class with the most points (pennies) will win an ice cream party.
All funds raised will be donated to Convoy of Hope, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides disaster relief, children’s feeding programs, and community outreach in more than 130 countries.
